Father Brown

This chap was totally chopped up in a duel at Benno's recently. I had a very nice duel with Pascal http://samsminisworld.blogspot.se/ and lost. Huge thanks for a very fun and nice duel! His woodman is very good work and he really deserved to win this duel. I named my figure Father Brown after G. K. Chesterton's crime novels. Figure is from Valdemar's Life In A Teutonic Monastery-set, walls are from Prince August's Fantasy Build-moulds and the base is ... here comes the SECRET: Susofrick Junction! But without the houses! :-D So I could use the same base in two duels, winning one and losing the other! :-D Here are the un-edited pics of Father Brown:

And here is a link to Susofrick Junction where you can see the base in another setting:

And here I also use the same base: :-D

Will use the base for more pics, but I plan to make more bases so I can get a little variety. I don't have that much space for dios or vignettes and this way I can use the same base for many many many dios. :-D If I just edit them a little. Maybe cheating, but I didn't have a chance to win so I can't think anyone will call it cheating. (I hope).

And here is what I wrote about Prince August's Fantasy Build:

Unfortunately I don't think you can find these moulds anywhere cheap. I bought mine late 80s and I haven't seen them since then in any shop.

Currently reading 1

I am a terrible reader. I start a book, take a break, start another, take a break, start a third, take a break, back to the first or second, take a break start a fourth and so on. Right now I've got six books going on at the same time (and I only read at lunch or at the loo, and that's just as well. That would be too many books at the same time). So I thought I could write a little about them here. The first one is a collection of short stories so that is easy to read, The Second Pan Book of Horror Stories compiled by Herbert van Thal. Many of the stories have dated badly, but some are pretty good. Second is a crime novel by the Norwegian author Unni Lindell, Ormbäraren (Snakebearer). Pretty good, but probably not issued outside of Scandinavia. Third is Waterloo by Swedish author Michael Tamelander. Since most of the facts in it is available elsewhere it is only published in Swedish. The fourth book I'm reading is a compilation of letters, and memories written by common people during WWI. How they saw at the war and what happened. This is compiled by Swedish Historian Peter Englund (secretary in the Nobel Prize commitee). And I'm still reading George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. I've reached part 5, Dance With Dragons. Have to go slowly with that one so he can finish the next. Also read Bernad Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles. Latest published part there too, but that is easier to catch up on so that one I can finish whenever I like too. Since music is a huge interest I read some music magazines too. ClassicRock, UnCut and Mojo are pretty frequently read, but also started to read a Swedish music magazine called Nostalgia Rock'n'Roll. Ordered some books for the Summer so if don't finish any of these there will be more books currently reading.

A hill

First a welcome to Alvaro, Steve and Elder. Nice to have you here. Bought a hill at the Petshop. Probably meant for lizards or spiders or something like that. Not for fish, cause it floats. :-D Pretty good size for these figs.

And for those that missed the birtday cake, here is at least a picture of it. It was very nice! :-D

Italeri's Country House with Porch

Been working a little on Italeri's Country House with porch. Couldn't decide on a colour on the house so I painted just as the box. Next house (only got two of them) could be read or yellow. :-D It is a pretty nice kit. Nothing of this is finished yet!

But if you want rooms you have to make the inner walls by yourself. But they won't be seen from the outside if you have the roof on so why bother. I painted the inside of the walls as if there were at least two rooms on the upper floor.

The kit got some smaller parts and they come in a bag. If they were on a sprue they would be much easier to paint, but no! That is what I don't like about this kit. Will probably use it in some dios.

When it is finished, that is. With all those small parts to paint it can take a while.
